The Video Below is the actual video interview filmed with my Samsung Galaxy S5. I used a tripod and shot this video horizontally. The added option was using a handheld shotgun microphone.

Lessons Learned and some video interview takeaways

  • When doing live video interviews make sure your surrounding support the video shoot, audio quality and framing the subjects are important. In this video the lighting could have been better, you can see the sunlight reflection. Know your environment from audio noise levels and audience interaction.
  • Have fun, be authentic and spontaneous but have a plan. Video Content is important but the context of your message is just as important. Are you delivering any value to your audience? Is there a call to action? Keep it short simple and to the point. Is your interview message relevant?
  • Keep it social with twitter. Utilize text characters in your tweets to support the video. Use event hashtags etc.

Video Resumes for Sales & Marketing Recruiters for Hiring Managers, are we there yet?

Video Resumes for Sales & Marketing Recruiters for Hiring Managers, are we there yet?

Personal Branding Leveraging Hiring Managers and Recruiters in Lehman”s Terms 2:32 Video

Last Year, I asked the question about video resumes and visual portfolio strategies are we there yet? With all the talk about personal branding and the increase in social video platform usage why aren’t companies looking at video resumes more?

Companies like HireVue that do an awesome job of automating the hiring process with video interview technology. They provide a service for companies to screen candidates through video interviews thus improving and making the hiring process more efficient. But what about the job seeker or candidate that is proactive with their own visual resume.

Questions to consider.

What about the job candidate or business networker that initiates a video resume or proposal? How is that being received by recruiters, talent acquisition departments?

Now I get it recruiters are tasked with sourcing right candidate for their paying client. This is the top priority of most recruiters. Recruiters are tasked with reviewing and scanning thousands of resumes and making a judgement in 15 seconds or less prior to a candidate interview screen.

A short video link probably won’t get reviewed because of time constraints. Most recruiters are busy surfing job boards and scanning resumes or using applicant tracking software programs to be more efficient. So much for being innovative, developing a personal brand and leveraging video if your message is not received by the recruiter or human resources. It doesn’t matter how innovative or creative you are if your message does not resonate with it’s audience on the initial contact.

I believe the focus should be getting to the hiring manager or business decision maker to see if your talents, services and skills are the match but why can’t we be more savvy on the front end of recruiting and sourcing?

Chill Puck A Social Business Story Leveraging Social Brand Advocacy

Chill Puck a Social Business Story leveraging social for brand advocacy.

I am a big fan or should I say advocate of companies that engage their customers and provide a great service or product offering.  My experience with Chill Puck meets this scenario.  Chill Puck has a dynamic product and they get social engagement.

As a social selling advocate, I like to connect with like-minded sales and marketing professionals.  Back in December,  I connected online with Jack Kosakowski, Social Sales Advisor for Chill Puck.  I became familiar with Jack and Chill Puck watching numerous video chats like the #Socialhangout reading blog posts,  updates and tweets.  We connected instantly on Twitter and LinkedIn etc.

My initial experience with Chill Puck was off to a great start.  Chill Puck sent me some samples and the rest is history.  I tested the product and liked the concept but more importantly, I loved how the team from Chill Puck interacts and engages with customers online socially.  Establishing social proof online, building and maintaining relationships and never leaving future advocates and customers behind.

So what is Cool about The Chill Puck.

  • Innovative product Design
  • Unlimited Market Potential “ People like cold refreshing drinks”
  • Customizable Logos – Specialty Advertising – Promotional Gifts
  • Social savvy Company. They Get Social and Experiential Marketing
  • Great Customer Support – Personal Brand Relationships
  • Supports Non-Profits, Charities and Fundraisers

I could write much more about The Chill Puck Experience but a video is good way to tell this business story, conceptualize, visualize and recognize a cool product socially.

In Lehman’s Terms Chill Puck is refreshing because they get social engagement and they have a really cool product. Checkout you their website at http://www.chillpuck.com for more details and follow them on social channels. A big thanks to Team Chill Puck, Curtis Peters and Nishan Pilibosian Founders and the Social Selling Advocate Jack Kosakowski for their support socially and keeping my drinks cold.  Follow Chill Puck on Twitter @TheChillPuck

2015 The Year For More Video Collaboration – I Hope Socially For Business

What would you like to see more of this year when it comes to Social Business and Communication? I hope to see more visual marketing and video collaboration among social networks and video partnerships.

My 2015 Wish List is simple more video collaboration. More people are engaging on social networking sites and blogs. You can see the comments, posts and updates on multiple social channels for business. It could be LinkedIn comments, retweeted tweets, Google + 1, repins, likes, re-posts etc. 2015 should be year for business to share more video and engage their audience more socially.

What I hope to see.

  • More Videos for Social Business
  • More Video Hangouts and Video Chats
  • More Video Case Studies and Testimonials
  • More Video Cross Promotion between Social Channels
  • More Video eBooks
  • More Video Blogs

The next time you produce a video or do a Google Hangout, encourage interaction look for comments and respond socially just like you do on other social networking sites. Video is such an easily platform to share Let’s keep it Social with Video.

I plan to share more video content this year but more importantly I plan to engage with others on video more by sharing and commenting.

Here is an example of … Video Cross Promotion between Social Channels

Cartoon Explainer Video “Social Selling vs Traditional Selling” Review

I’m a big advocate of leveraging videos for sales and social business. My passion is social selling videos. I recently launched a new video series on the topic of video reviews. My first review’s looked at Brian Solis and Hootsuite on the topic of social selling insight. We also looked at a Microsoft Dynamics video with Fred Studer on the topic Social Selling and mobile customer engagement. Top (VIDEO) reviews on social selling business –video collaboration show.

Here is my latest video review hosted by Sales for Life. Jamie Shanks and Company do a tremendous job on training and being ambassadors for Social Selling. The Team from Sales for Life has a great video featured on their website  titled “Traditional Selling VS Social Selling” I encourage you to watch the video and check out my review.

Video Review of Traditional Selling VS Social Selling.

What I like about this cartoon explainer video is that it’s well produced and loaded with several facts on the benefits of social selling and the sales process. I also like the fact that this video is compelling, engaging, entertaining and fun. If you’re looking for an explainer video on social selling this it.

I love the benefits of video especially the personalized human effect but when you can’t be on camera there are alternatives like creating cartoons, animations, visual slideshows and explainer videos. These video production options can be a great alternative for video marketing.

I’ve been producing videos on the topic of social selling for over four years now and have experimented with cartoons and animations. To me, nothing beats the human effect of being on camera but cartoons and animations have their place. It all comes down to telling that visual digital story in a compelling and engaging style. A call to action helps.

Have you used explainer videos, cartoons or animation style videos for your video marketing? I would love to get your thoughts and insight on these types of videos for the sales process.
