Do we go online later and connect through social media channels. The simple question how do we engage and move the conversation along.

I honestly feel that use of Amazon.com is a perfect example of true social video engagement. It provides an open platform for viewers and readers to respond to products and services and provide feedback on the review. The keyword is SOCIAL. Video Reviews on sites like Amazon.com combine the essential elements of participation and engagement; a reviewer can review your video review.

Video Book Review – Resume Branding 101 “Kim N. Carswell”

A few days ago I made an attempt to do a video book review for author Kim N. Carswell. I was battling adverse weather conditions, tornado storm warnings, noise distractions like Jet Planes flying over from nearby Dobbins Air Reserve Base.  That attempt produced a short educational blooper reel. Needless to say, here is my video book review of Kim’s Book “Resume Branding 101 Strategies for Getting Noticed 10 Seconds or Less” I was able to film the review the next day under better conditions.

This is a must read for anyone who is looking for a new job or underemployed , or simply wants to market their own personal brand in effective manner. More on Kim N. Carswell. Checkout her company at http://www.personaaffairs.com/resume.html

There are a ton books and career coaching services out there that provide tips and templates on how to write a resume but they fall short on how to make it readable and desirable in today’s competitive job market. This is where Kim’s book comes into play and provides that special niche on how to get your resume noticed by a hiring audience.

Kim has an accomplished background on the topics or resume writing, personal branding and the hiring process. She speaks to both sides of the hiring table. She understands the content. This book really touches on the mindset on how to create your own brand identity and market your resume effectively to your hiring audience keeping the reader in mind with the goal of getting the first interview . The book outlines a plan for a specialized Resume Branding Matrix.

Remembering Flashback Video “Epic 2014” A new year

It’s the New Year 2011 and everyone at some point in time has reflected on the future and where technology is heading.  Today I want to share a flashback presentation developed in 2004, before YouTube and Facebook were even around.  Epic 2014, an 8 minute flash movie by Robin Sloan and Matt Thompson.  The Film starts off with a list of historical and real life events taking place from 1989 to 2004 and then the thought provoking fictional twist of events take place from 2004 to 2014.

To put it in Lehman’s Terms.  I found this film to be very insightful and kept reminding myself that this was done in 2004 before YouTube and other popular social networking sites.   Some of these events are happening now, the increase location based social media applications and the shift in news and journalism to online media from traditional media.  We are the news media using an online platform for distribution and engagement.  The use of online video is and will be a big part of the future.
