Improving Sales Performance and Customer Research by Social Watching for Social Selling.

SOCIAL WATCHING for Sales Research beyond Social Listening in Lehman’s Terms.

Social Watching for Selling Today in Lehman’s Terms

Understanding your buyers, customers and prospects is key in selling today. Doing your own research, account preparation and social listening is paramount for planing a strategy to engage. There are a number of Social Listening platforms and software applications out there but as far as I am concerned nothing beats video for social research.

In Lehman’s Terms the concept of Social Watching has numerous benefits. So do some Social Watching and watch this short video.

socialwatch5

Let’s face it audio and text are great resources for research but are you getting the true human story? Is your research media authentic or is the content written by ghost writers and a team of editors that you can’t see. This is why Video is a viable option for social research. Especially live interview style videos.

Are you searching for those key trigger points to engage with customers and prospects? Why not watch and visualize the research process.

socialwatch6

Questions to Consider.

  • What Tools are you currently using today to listen to your customers and prospects socially? Social Listening.
  • Are you Social Watching?
  • How are you leveraging VIDEO RESEARCH for Social Selling and Account Planning?

Video Resumes for Sales & Marketing Recruiters for Hiring Managers, are we there yet?

Video Resumes for Sales & Marketing Recruiters for Hiring Managers, are we there yet?

Personal Branding Leveraging Hiring Managers and Recruiters in Lehman”s Terms 2:32 Video

Last Year, I asked the question about video resumes and visual portfolio strategies are we there yet? With all the talk about personal branding and the increase in social video platform usage why aren’t companies looking at video resumes more?

Companies like HireVue that do an awesome job of automating the hiring process with video interview technology. They provide a service for companies to screen candidates through video interviews thus improving and making the hiring process more efficient. But what about the job seeker or candidate that is proactive with their own visual resume.

Questions to consider.

What about the job candidate or business networker that initiates a video resume or proposal? How is that being received by recruiters, talent acquisition departments?

Now I get it recruiters are tasked with sourcing right candidate for their paying client. This is the top priority of most recruiters. Recruiters are tasked with reviewing and scanning thousands of resumes and making a judgement in 15 seconds or less prior to a candidate interview screen.

A short video link probably won’t get reviewed because of time constraints. Most recruiters are busy surfing job boards and scanning resumes or using applicant tracking software programs to be more efficient. So much for being innovative, developing a personal brand and leveraging video if your message is not received by the recruiter or human resources. It doesn’t matter how innovative or creative you are if your message does not resonate with it’s audience on the initial contact.

I believe the focus should be getting to the hiring manager or business decision maker to see if your talents, services and skills are the match but why can’t we be more savvy on the front end of recruiting and sourcing?

MORE QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER?

What are your thoughts on Video Resumes?

What tools and online portfolios do you use for career development, job search and personal branding?

How do you leverage other social networking sites with Video to share and engage?

How do we get the decision maker or hiring manager to view your visual resume and personal branding material?

Will visual resumes and videos be more proficient in the future for recruiters and talent acquisition teams?

Cartoon Explainer Video “Social Selling vs Traditional Selling” Review

I’m a big advocate of leveraging videos for sales and social business. My passion is social selling videos. I recently launched a new video series on the topic of video reviews. My first review’s looked at Brian Solis and Hootsuite on the topic of social selling insight. We also looked at a Microsoft Dynamics video with Fred Studer on the topic Social Selling and mobile customer engagement. Top (VIDEO) reviews on social selling business –video collaboration show.

Here is my latest video review hosted by Sales for Life. Jamie Shanks and Company do a tremendous job on training and being ambassadors for Social Selling. The Team from Sales for Life has a great video featured on their website  titled “Traditional Selling VS Social Selling” I encourage you to watch the video and check out my review.

Video Review of Traditional Selling VS Social Selling.

What I like about this cartoon explainer video is that it’s well produced and loaded with several facts on the benefits of social selling and the sales process. I also like the fact that this video is compelling, engaging, entertaining and fun. If you’re looking for an explainer video on social selling this it.

I love the benefits of video especially the personalized human effect but when you can’t be on camera there are alternatives like creating cartoons, animations, visual slideshows and explainer videos. These video production options can be a great alternative for video marketing.

I’ve been producing videos on the topic of social selling for over four years now and have experimented with cartoons and animations. To me, nothing beats the human effect of being on camera but cartoons and animations have their place. It all comes down to telling that visual digital story in a compelling and engaging style. A call to action helps.

Have you used explainer videos, cartoons or animation style videos for your video marketing? I would love to get your thoughts and insight on these types of videos for the sales process.

Connecting at Sales Conferences Virtually through Video. #DF14 Dreamforce Does Event Video Properly

Nothing is better than networking at a live conference but in some cases, you cannot attend the event due to travel, location, costs and schedule conflicts. Video is the next best thing to being there. This year’s Dreamforce conference hosted by salesforce.com understands the power of leveraging event video.

Dreamforce has put together a series of informational videos to help event newcomers get the full value of their mega conference October 13-16. The Road to Dreamforce and Inside Dreamforce Video Clips are a great resource with significant content.

What I also like about Dreamforce is there are numerous live streaming video segments taking place. Just go to the event website and follow the event hashtag #DF14. If you cannot experience this event in person, at least you have options virtually. Social Video is powerful for events; it amplifies event user experience, increases visibility and keeps your event relevant with real-time visual marketing.

I know I will be following the event hastage #DF14 closely looking for video content, watching live streams, sharing content socially. As sales professional, I am truly looking forward to watching the live video stream hosted by Insidesales.com featuring some of today’s top sales influencers live from Dreamforce

Informational Videos, Video Recaps, Live Streaming Video what’s not to love about Dreamforce. I wish I was attending

Sales Video Tips for Authors – Getting Noticed, Staying Relevant and Getting Hired!

Video Tips for Authors Getting Noticed, Staying Relevant and Getting Hired!

Video is a powerful tool to promote and build brand awareness especially for Authors and Job Seekers.  I am passionate about video and do a number of video book reviews usually on the topics of sales, marketing and social media.

It‘s obvious that video book reviews and testimonials can help authors drive more customer engagement, build readership and sell more books.  Delivering value base content and leveraging your readers as brand advocates speaks volumes.

What else can authors do to position their books with Video?   Here are a few suggestions In Lehman’s Terms.

1)      Set up Video Book Trailers prior to launching your book leveraging social networking sites to promote engagement.

2)      Simply ask for video reviews and recommendations

3)      Collaborate and do video chats or Google Hangouts with other authors in the same industry.

4)      Produce short video clips and interpretive readings of your book.

5)      Repurpose any video or interview content about your book from talk shows, radio interviews and media outlets etc

6)      Do a video Slideshow, Slideshare Presentation of your book.

7)      Produce a video series Blog Tips from your book.

8)      Video (Record) your book signing events capturing the event story

9)      Do a follow up video on what you learned from this experience?

10)   Do a follow up video, on what topics you would like to add after publishing.

After a book is published relevancy has a deadline, leveraging video can help the author stay relevant by visual storytelling.  The simple fact is your book has a limited shelf life and video can promote, share and extend time establishing you as a subject matter expert.

Here is an example of an online video review I did for authors Jeff Sheehan and Alfred M. Smith book Hired! Paths To Employment In The Social Media Era. This a great read and resource book for anyone in job transition who is unemployed, underemployed or looking to make a career move.

Both authors share their insight on several topics and strategies for getting hired today in the social media era.  I encourage you to checkout Jeff and Al’s website www.hiredthebook.com to learn more about their background and this book

Reconnecting my 1st Level LinkedIn Connections Video

First of all, I want to THANK all my first level connections on LinkedIn for connecting.  I started using LinkedIn back in March of 2007.  If you are open networker with thousands of connections or you have a smaller more intimate network, LinkedIn is a powerful collaboration tool.

Last week, I started to evaluate my social media networks on the basis on connections and contact engagement.  Why are we connected? What is our network relationship?  In some cases we engage frequently other cases we are a simple contact name on a growing list.

The purpose of this Video Blog Post is to put a name with face using Video to simply reconnect again on LinkedIn.  I would love to hear more about you and your business.  Please feel free to reach out and contact me if you need any assistance with my network or want to engage in more dialogue.  Let’s take full advantage of our connection on linkedIn and collaborate.

Now to put it in Lehman’s Terms

2)       Let’s Engage, Reconnect and Collaborate

3)       I value our LinkedIn Connection on all levels of engagement

Worth It “The Power of Video Group Testimonials”

The Power of Video Group Testimonials

Earlier this month, I attended a special conference that was organized by Andrea Amir of Smart Money Chicks. The Confernece was called Worth It! The Money Conference for Women .The goal of the conference is to provide reliable Money Management, Investing, Career, Entrepreneur, Savings, Credit and Retirement Planning Strategies for women of all ages, economic backgrounds, and levels of financial knowledge. The Conference was designed to address the unique challenges women face in a safe and fun environment.

My task was to film the keynote speaker Karen Lee, Author of “It’s Just Money, So Why Does It Cause So Many Problems?” Karen’s presentation was excellent, engaging and informative.

After filming Karen, I decided to capture some testimonial videos . The conference was a huge success so I thought I would share the group testimonial video. Video testimonials are a great way to showcase your business or events.

It was a great event and free to the public. I really enjoyed the presenters and the host “Omen Agency” did an excellent job. Always good to catch up with Black Nicholoson of The Omen Agency.

Today I want to showcase Hotep but plan on discussing the other presentations in more detail.

I’ve been fortunate to hear Amani and Selah speak before and they always bring great information on strategies and tips in the social media world.

Green Screen Production “Fall Season Kickball Recap”

As many of you know,  I am very passionate about video engagement and sports.  I am an avid sports fan and play kickball on the weekends in Atlanta.  With a simple flip camera,  I took footage of my kickball squad and produced a webisode for Social Selling TV.

Using my green screen, I made an attempt to film our GREEN Shirts on the green screen.  The final result was my shirt turned blue.  The simple rule is not to wear any clothes with the color you wish to hide. For example, if you have a green screen background, do not wear green duh!  I was fortunate that my shirt wasn’t partially erased, invisable or distorted.. I actually like the blue color shirt..

Video Response Spotlighting Stephanie Wonderlin “Tweetheart TV”

Today I want to spotlight Stephanie Wonderlin host of Tweetheart TV an interactive video show that highlights, social media news, tips and reviews.  Tweetheart TV is a true interactive show that allows the viewer to watch more contact through a video menu.  This is a very unique video concept.

Stephanie recently asked her viewers to submit a video answering the question what do you want to see on the upcoming Tweetheart TV episodes?  Stephanie is leveraging the power of video engagement to the fullest.  I am big fan of Stephanie’s work and decided to do my own video request using the YouTube Video Response Tool.  I am looking forward to future episodes of Tweetheart TV.  Checkout Stephanie’s show on YouTube and her website she is one to watch and emulate.

Video Spotlight Social Media ROI Qualman Animation

Today I want to Spotlight Erik Qualman again.  The following video talks about Social Media
ROI.  What I like about this video is the creative use of Xtranormal Software to tell the story in animation form.  If you are camera shy or simply don’t have a camera, software like Xtranormal could be a great option for telling your business story video.

Make Brands Social “Vitrue” Social Selling TV Spotlight

In this episode of Social Selling TV, We are spotlighting “Vitrue” We make brands social!

On May 17, I became the 3000 follower for Vitrue. I was fortunate to win a gift bag. Vitrue gets the concept of be social with their fans and customers. When I decide to follow an individual, organization or company on twitter, there has to be a compelling reason to follow and engage.

Back in May, I heard Erika Brookes from Vitrue speak at the Digital Summit on the topic of 10 Social Trends to Watch In 2011. I decided to checkout her company website, YouTube Channel, Facebook Business Page etc. The next logical step was following Vitrue on twitter. I was fortunate to win a prize but the real prize was learning about a dynamic company. I also uncovered a YouTube show call Social Soup hosted Steve Barnes. Social Soup provides tips for marketers from marketers on social media stories.

To put it in Lehman’s Terms be SOCIAL
You can provide and deliver a lot of content on your company website, blogs, business pages etc, but if your clients, followers, fans are not engaged and don’t share with their networks, you are simply missing the point about being sociable. The ultimate value is what other people are saying about you and your company brand, leveraging the power of social media.

Video Review Digital Summit Presenters 2011

Here is my video review and quick overview of this year’s Digital Summit hosted in Atlanta. I wanted to share with you some of the speakers, presenters and vendors that made an impact on me based on their content and presentation delivery. They all engaged the audience and brought value to this year’s summit. As a conference attendee, you want to learn and be engaged. I felt these speakers delivered that. Unfortunately, I could not hear all the presenters; you can’t be in two places at one time. My mini video review, a quick speaker testimonial recap. More video reviews to come including a full video review of Gary Vaynerchuk’s Book “The Thank You Economy” I will be conducting another complimentary webinar of Social Video Sales Engaging your Customers on Wednesday May 25. I got some great tips from the Summit to pass on.

Please comment, let me know your thoughts, a video response would be awesome.
Thanks Doug
