Brian Solis Atlanta Book Signing Event “Video Spotlight”

Here is my video blog recap for the Atlanta Brian Solis Book Signing Event  hosted by Cox Communications and Social Media Marketing Communications Agency Everywhere.

Erik Qualman hits another homerun with his latest book “Digital Leader” 5 Simple Keys to Success and Influence. This is his follow up book to his bestselling book Socialnomics. True to form this book is loaded with relevant case studies, facts and events that outline business practices today.

We all have an online presence which will stay with us our entire life and beyond. Why not inspire others with leadership providing an online legacy. This is our Digital Stamp. Qualman outlines five keys to success in leadership. Qualman cites several examples across multiple industries. He also provides several inspirational and motivational quotes on the topics of leadership.

The book is a tremendous resource, providing key points and takeaways after each section on the five habits of being a digital leader. If you are looking to improve your online leadership performance or interested in learning how society has changed with the impact of technology in the digital age this is a must read. As Qualman states Digital Leaders are made not born. Great Read Great Resource Book!

It provides an open platform for viewers and readers to respond to products and services and provide feedback on the review. The keyword is SOCIAL. Filming Outside Atlanta Challenges Delivering The Message

Things to consider when filming outsideIn this video I should have made the following changes to make it more compelling and engaging. When filming video on a rooftop beware of the wind and background sound.  An external microphone or a lavaliere mic can help with sound quality issues. During the jump cut or transition cut, my image was too dark and natural lighting did not provide clarity. Make sure you are aware of the shadowing effect and place your subject in a well-lighted place.

My objective and intent is to be genuine and authentic delivering my message to the city of Atlanta, hence the background environment. My mission is to share tips on social media video through video blogging. An open platform for readers and viewers to conceptualize, visualize and recognize the influence and shift of online video marketing in today’s world.

Video Book Review – Resume Branding 101 “Kim N. Carswell”

A few days ago I made an attempt to do a video book review for author Kim N. Carswell. I was battling adverse weather conditions, tornado storm warnings, noise distractions like Jet Planes flying over from nearby Dobbins Air Reserve Base.  That attempt produced a short educational blooper reel. Needless to say, here is my video book review of Kim’s Book “Resume Branding 101 Strategies for Getting Noticed 10 Seconds or Less” I was able to film the review the next day under better conditions.

There are a ton books and career coaching services out there that provide tips and templates on how to write a resume but they fall short on how to make it readable and desirable in today’s competitive job market. This is where Kim’s book comes into play and provides that special niche on how to get your resume noticed by a hiring audience.

Kim has an accomplished background on the topics or resume writing, personal branding and the hiring process. She speaks to both sides of the hiring table. She understands the content. This book really touches on the mindset on how to create your own brand identity and market your resume effectively to your hiring audience keeping the reader in mind with the goal of getting the first interview . I love to do video book reviews and host the reviews online. I feel that it is a great form of social video engagement, if your video is open to customer participation. Amazon.com book reviews are a perfect example of this. They allow interaction with readers and viewers to comment, contribute and share their thoughts. It is a true on-going video engagement case study.

A few days ago I was shooting a book review outside and then the fun started.

Video Engagement tip 1  Know your environment and adjust to weather conditions
Video Engagement tip 2 Have a stable tripod
Video Engagement tip 3…Sound quality background sound, prepare for noise issues

Lessons learned from this encounter if you are filming before a thunderstorm hits be prepared duh.. A strong wind can cause havoc, survey your filming surrounding and be on the lookout for jet planes flying by. Jet Planes can bring da noise..essentially Public Enemy Number One. If you didn’t get that last statement see Flavor Flav…hype man for the Rap Group Public Enemy.

Shooting video outside can be fun and evoke curiosity. Coming soon my video book review will be on the topic or resume writing and personal branding strategy for today’s competitive job market. The book is titled “Resume Branding 101 Strategies for Getting Noticed in 10 Seconds or Less by author Kim Carswell. From the video, I made an effort to review Kim’s book during less than ideal conditions and that is why we have pre-production.
