The Video Below is the actual video interview filmed with my Samsung Galaxy S5. I used a tripod and shot this video horizontally. The added option was using a handheld shotgun microphone.

Lessons Learned and some video interview takeaways

  • When doing live video interviews make sure your surrounding support the video shoot, audio quality and framing the subjects are important. In this video the lighting could have been better, you can see the sunlight reflection. Know your environment from audio noise levels and audience interaction.
  • Have fun, be authentic and spontaneous but have a plan. Video Content is important but the context of your message is just as important. Are you delivering any value to your audience? Is there a call to action? Keep it short simple and to the point. Is your interview message relevant?
  • Keep it social with twitter. Utilize text characters in your tweets to support the video. Use event hashtags etc.

The process for doing this has a few simple steps.

  • Create and Compose A New Tweet
  • Select Media – ADD VIDEO – Make sure it is in a MP4  Video Format
  • Trim the Video for 30 Seconds or less, preview select DONE
  • Send Tweet and the process of uploading and sending your video has begun.

Direct Message Tweet “Video Response” Thank You Followers

In Lehman’s Terms I love to position and leverage video as tool for social engagement.  I made a series of videos to update some of my twitter followers on the power of 140 text characters, simple update on my end and attempt to open further dialogue. My method was a direct message tweet that was customized to each follower using simple text and video. My goal was to create a visual and engaging message to connect instantly and thank them for being a follower.

I am not a big fan of automatic direct messages on Twitter after we just connected especially if the message is impersonal. In some cases this technique can be viewed as spam. Get to know me first and build the relationship. Make an effort to do the research and look over my profile first etc.

I do feel it is important to acknowledge new followers and connections on Twitter, LinkedIn etc and a simple value-centric response is warranted at certain times.
