Today I want to spotlight Jeff Molander’s Video.  I selected this video based on content and message.  Jeff Molander is a social media sales consultant and speaker.  I love his take on selling social media past the customer engagement process making social media sell for you.

Reconnecting my 1st Level LinkedIn Connections Video

First of all, I want to THANK all my first level connections on LinkedIn for connecting.  I started using LinkedIn back in March of 2007.  If you are open networker with thousands of connections or you have a smaller more intimate network, LinkedIn is a powerful collaboration tool.

 

Last week, I started to evaluate my social media networks on the basis on connections and contact engagement.  Why are we connected? What is our network relationship?  In some cases we engage frequently other cases we are a simple contact name on a growing list.

Erik Qualman hits another homerun with his latest book “Digital Leader” 5 Simple Keys to Success and Influence. This is his follow up book to his bestselling book Socialnomics. True to form this book is loaded with relevant case studies, facts and events that outline business practices today.

We all have an online presence which will stay with us our entire life and beyond. Why not inspire others with leadership providing an online legacy. This is our Digital Stamp. Qualman outlines five keys to success in leadership. Qualman cites several examples across multiple industries. He also provides several inspirational and motivational quotes on the topics of leadership.

The book is a tremendous resource, providing key points and takeaways after each section on the five habits of being a digital leader. If you are looking to improve your online leadership performance or interested in learning how society has changed with the impact of technology in the digital age this is a must read. As Qualman states Digital Leaders are made not born. Great Read Great Resource Book!

I just completed a video book review of Erik Qualman’s book Socialnomics: How Social Media Transforms the Way We Live and Do Business. I consider this book to be a foundation and playbook for Social Media Business Case Studies. We have all seen his video series “Social Media Revolution” Socialnomics is an extension of this in print. Erik really showcases the impact of social media and how it be used to leverage business.

I can honestly say this book has a direct impact on my own passion for social media social selling and customer video engagement. The shift in social media has changed the landscape on how we conduct business, listen and respond to our customers. We now live in new world, a social media revolution. This book is a tremendous resource and playbook for understanding this from a business perspective. Is social media a fad, you must be mad, read this book in you will be hooked.

February Video Engagement Case Studies

Filming outside has it’s Challenges..Poor Audio Public Enemy # 1

I love to do video book reviews and host the reviews online. I feel that it is a great form of social video engagement, if your video is open to customer participation. Amazon.com book reviews are a perfect example of this. They allow interaction with readers and viewers to comment, contribute and share their thoughts. It is a true on-going video engagement case study.

A few days ago I was shooting a book review outside and then the fun started.

Video Engagement tip 1  Know your environment and adjust to weather conditions
Video Engagement tip 2 Have a stable tripod
Video Engagement tip 3…Sound quality background sound, prepare for noise issues

Lessons learned from this encounter if you are filming before a thunderstorm hits be prepared duh.. A strong wind can cause havoc, survey your filming surrounding and be on the lookout for jet planes flying by. Jet Planes can bring da noise..essentially Public Enemy Number One. If you didn’t get that last statement see Flavor Flav…hype man for the Rap Group Public Enemy.

Shooting video outside can be fun and evoke curiosity. Coming soon my video book review will be on the topic or resume writing and personal branding strategy for today’s competitive job market. The book is titled “Resume Branding 101 Strategies for Getting Noticed in 10 Seconds or Less by author Kim Carswell. From the video, I made an effort to review Kim’s book during less than ideal conditions and that is why we have pre-production.

Back in November, I was researching screen capturing software programs.  I came across a YouTube Review by Adria Richards  and that was an eye opener.  Adria’s video was compelling and engaging.  This one video led me to an awesome online video resource trainer Adria Richards.  Instantly I became a fan of her work which delivers a wealth of tips and information that truly empowers people through technology. 

Adria just had a video contest to win a Laptop computer, a Dell Vostro V130 and guess who the winner was? 

Here are my takeaways. You need to provide valuable content on your videos to engage your audience. Promotional prizes and contest are great tools for initial attraction. Delivering consistent and quality material for your audience is a must and necessary for continued customer engagement and repeat viewership.

Now don’t get it twisted, I love winning my new laptop but learning from superstar trainers and speakers like Adria Richards is priceless.  I look forward to hearing her speak live and in-person.
