Video Spotlight Social Media ROI Qualman Animation

Today I want to Spotlight Erik Qualman again.  The following video talks about Social Media
ROI.  What I like about this video is the creative use of Xtranormal Software to tell the story in animation form.  If you are camera shy or simply don’t have a camera, software like Xtranormal could be a great option for telling your business story video.

As many of you know, I am a big fan of Erik’s Book Socialnomics and his website. I did a video book review earlier in the spring. I am big fan of engaging video content.  This video is entertaining, informative and compelling, a nice clever storyline on Social Media ROI with very real but comedic viewpoint.

To put it in Lehman’s Terms there are several ways to show and visualize a story, using animation and a special script is another way to engage and educate your audience. Another example software that I like to use is Go! Animate. I will be showcasing other videos and animation software products in a blog post series soon.

Make Brands Social “Vitrue” Social Selling TV Spotlight

In this episode of Social Selling TV, We are spotlighting “Vitrue” We make brands social!

On May 17, I became the 3000 follower for Vitrue. I was fortunate to win a gift bag. Vitrue gets the concept of be social with their fans and customers. When I decide to follow an individual, organization or company on twitter, there has to be a compelling reason to follow and engage.

Back in May, I heard Erika Brookes from Vitrue speak at the Digital Summit on the topic of 10 Social Trends to Watch In 2011. I decided to checkout her company website, YouTube Channel, Facebook Business Page etc. The next logical step was following Vitrue on twitter. I was fortunate to win a prize but the real prize was learning about a dynamic company. I also uncovered a YouTube show call Social Soup hosted Steve Barnes. Social Soup provides tips for marketers from marketers on social media stories.

To put it in Lehman’s Terms be SOCIAL
You can provide and deliver a lot of content on your company website, blogs, business pages etc, but if your clients, followers, fans are not engaged and don’t share with their networks, you are simply missing the point about being sociable. The ultimate value is what other people are saying about you and your company brand, leveraging the power of social media.

Happy Mother’s Day Mom Artist Susan Lehman

Happy Mother’s Day All. Today I wanted to share with you an interview I did with my Mom back in December of 2009. My mom, Susan Lehman, is an artist that specializes in several forms of artwork. We discussed her work with oil paintings, acrylic paintings, block prints and collages. You will get a better understanding of the process of creating and designing different artistic projects. I get my creativity from my mom, so I thought it would a great time and platform to visualize and conceptualize her artwork which has made a direct impact on me. Happy Mother’s Day.

This Presentation was made with Windows Movie Maker 2.6. All the artwork and pictures etc were photographed with a Cell Phone, A Palm Pre to be exact. I wish the quality was better but you get an adequate visual of a picture of a picture.

Socialnomics Amazon Book Review “Social Video Engagement”

I honestly feel that use of Amazon.com is a perfect example of true social video engagement. It provides an open platform for viewers and readers to respond to products and services and provide feedback on the review. The keyword is SOCIAL. Video Reviews on sites like Amazon.com combine the essential elements of participation and engagement; a reviewer can review your video review.

My review link for Amazon for Erik Qualman’s Book
http://www.amazon.com/review/R2YUQKAKVMB4ZQ/ref=cm_cr_rdp_perm

As Erik states we, businesses, no longer have a choice on whether we do social media: the question is how well we do it.

Throughout the entire book there are business case studies, examples of social media trends and the way we should engage our customers today. Each chapter as a dedicated section on chapter key points which helps the reader summarize important points. Erik’s shares several business examples and breaks down the complex issues in real world business analogies so the reader can conceptualize and visualize and recognize the business story content.

Examples in the book’s first eight chapters, include some of the following, presidential election impact of social media, how news today is distributed via social media and correspondence with traditional media, print, tv, radio etc, digitizing the blogosphere, word of mouth power of social media, corporate examples from numerous industries. Erik takes a strong look at social media from a generation perspective, Social Commerce trends in e commerce, social media sites influence over search engines, network TV, internet on demand business trend and even trends in job search and the recruiting process

Chapter nine includes a bonus Social Media Rolodex and resources, digital education center..
Chapter Ten, other insights and FAQs, Erik highlights the social media escalator the impact of listening and engaging your customer in the business process. He also takes on the topic of ROI and social media with descriptions and examples. Social media trends are evolving and updates for this book can be found at www.socialnomics.net

The shift in social media has changed the landscape on how we conduct business and listen and respond to our customers. We now live in new world, a social media revolution. And this book is a resource and playbook for understanding this from a business perspective. Is social media a fad, you must be mad, read this book in you will be hooked.

Socialnomics Video Book Review

I just completed a video book review of Erik Qualman’s book Socialnomics: How Social Media Transforms the Way We Live and Do Business. I consider this book to be a foundation and playbook for Social Media Business Case Studies. We have all seen his video series “Social Media Revolution” Socialnomics is an extension of this in print. Erik really showcases the impact of social media and how it be used to leverage business.

I can honestly say this book has a direct impact on my own passion for social media social selling and customer video engagement. The shift in social media has changed the landscape on how we conduct business, listen and respond to our customers. We now live in new world, a social media revolution. This book is a tremendous resource and playbook for understanding this from a business perspective. Is social media a fad, you must be mad, read this book in you will be hooked.

Mini Documentary My Video Contest Story Dell Vostro V130

I created a quick mini documentary, my own journey in winning a merit based video contest held by Adria Richards sponsored by Dell Computer.

The Awesome Adria Richards Story was posted back on February 25, http://douglehman.com/videocontest2 My video response is long overdue. I decided to show a video story that will visualize and conceptualize the power and influence of video engagement.

I received my new laptop a Dell Vostro V130 a couple of weeks ago and it rocks! Special Thanks to Zócalo Group for managing the First Impressions Video Contest with Dell. I would also like to thank my business partner for The Dug Show Madison Carlista for appearing in the quick video clip.

February Video Engagement Case Studies

They add value and provided me with excellent cases studies for video engagement. Checkout out the slides below that contain notes. One of the questions, I get asked is how can I do a visual presentation without video. I will be providing examples on how to do this. I just started using a product called GoAnimate, an animation software program. Checkout out my quick promotional video for this upcoming webinar. Just having a little fun with cartoon animations.

Camera Shy Try Animation Software

Camera Shy try animation software programs for your visual presentation. People often say that want to have a video presentation but they don’t like being on camera or they simply lack time and equipment. We all know about great applications like Animoto, Brainshark and Slideshare to name a few but you can also create presentations with animation software like GoAnimate, Stupeflix and Xtranormal. I just experimented with GoAnimate and created a short video animation. The tool was very simple to use and I see it creating value. I made a quick video in 30 minutes time. Just that simple to execute.

There are several options to create visual presentation without a camera that are cost effective and free. These options are worth checking out. Also worth checking out is a great article by Jeremy Scott posted on www.reelseo.com. My favorite resource site for Online Video Marketing News “ No Camera? No Problem! YouTube Integrates Animation Software for Filmmakers” This is a well done post that really simplifies how Animation Tools and YouTube can work together. We can benefit from these tools.

Video Engagement Tips 101 – March Madness

March Madness Video Engagement Tips 101. It is that time of year when March Madness NCAA Hoops Tournament is in full effect. I have a strong passion for video and College Basketball. In keeping with the theme, I decided to create a quick video on tips for producing an online video with emphasis on leveraging social selling and customer engagement .

This video slideshow was developed with a simple flip camera using window movie maker as an editing tool with voice over narration. I try to keep it simple.

Video SEO and my lunch box

How simple is it to make video impact on your SEO?  Last a week, my own lunch box was posted on YouTube by Desiree Peeples.  Yes my own childhood lunch box at my co-working office refrigerator in Atlanta.   What is ironic about this story was that I was researching Desiree’s work and saw my own lunch box on her YouTube Channel.  This Saturday, I will have opportunity to hear Desiree speak at a Video Boot Camp here in Atlanta.

Here are my takeaways, strategically tagging, adding keywords and describing your video with creative and compelling titles can leverage your SEO.  My own lunch box video is on the first page of Google after one video post.   This video stands out with simple placement and implementing metadata on your video.

With proper optimization, video increases the chance of a front-page Google result by 53x. (Forrester Research, January 2010)

A simple lunch and learn from my old school lunch box.

Atlanta Digital Bootcamp – March Madness Special

Today I want to spotlight a great event coming up Saturday March 19 here in Atlanta hosted by Amani Channel and Selah Abrams. A Digital Bootcamp, Web Video 101 – Produce Engaging Content. This is a must workshop for anyone wanting to learn how to get started in video production and leverage online video for your business.

Filming Outside Atlanta Challenges Delivering The Message

Things to consider when filming outsideIn this video I should have made the following changes to make it more compelling and engaging. When filming video on a rooftop beware of the wind and background sound.  An external microphone or a lavaliere mic can help with sound quality issues. During the jump cut or transition cut, my image was too dark and natural lighting did not provide clarity. Make sure you are aware of the shadowing effect and place your subject in a well-lighted place.

My objective and intent is to be genuine and authentic delivering my message to the city of Atlanta, hence the background environment. My mission is to share tips on social media video through video blogging. An open platform for readers and viewers to conceptualize, visualize and recognize the influence and shift of online video marketing in today’s world.
